Key Concept 15

MULTIMEDIA PRODUCTION

15.1 Candidates will be able to create original multimedia products to maximize learning.

For ET605, I created a Tech Spotlight to highlight tools that could help maximize learning, and in creating this spotlight, I fashioned examples of many of the tools showing how they could be used. I made cartoons, videos, Kahoots, a mindmap, Google Forms, and an infographic using Venngage. These tools were to become to foundation of many of my later projects and products throughout the EdTech Master's Program, and looking back on my initial Tech Spotlight, I am almost embarrassed at the rudimentary nature of many of these creations. I am pleased that my current use of multimedia has matured, to the point where I am creating podcasts using Anchor and feel comfortable creating live video with Periscope, in addition to all the tools featured in my Tech Spotlight. The picture of my Tech Spotlight below, hosted on my personal education blog, another multimedia tool I use often, links to the site for your perusal. Below that you can find my recent podcasts and a video of me discussing service learning on Periscope. I have also inclided a link to my UDL Cast Book Creator, which uses multimedia to enhance lessons and make them more accessible for students with learning differences, disabilities, and accomodations.

The wonderful aspect of mulitmedia products is that they allow me to maximize learning for my students as well as my PLN. I can engage my students with new approaches to content, reflection, and assessment, and I can relate to my PLN through screencasts, live video, and Twitter chats. Through engaging in these communities, attempting to maximize others' learning, my own learning is maximized, as well.
