Pediatrics Supporting Parents

The Pediatrics Supporting Parents Initiative has awarded Durham funding ($120,000 for a planning year and between $400,000 to $750,000 per year for 3 years) to invest in evidence-based and community-rooted approaches to supporting social-emotional health for children in Durham ages 0-3 and their families.

The purpose of this project is to create systems and practice changes at Duke Pediatrics by integrating approaches identified by our Durham community into Duke Pediatrics’ model of care. This initiative focuses specifically on connecting community-rooted initiatives with Duke Pediatrics to provide Black and Latinx families greater access to social-emotional support.

Duke Pediatrics, parents of young children who receive care at Duke Children’s Primary Care at North Durham and community-rooted leaders who work closely with Black and Latinx families in Durham, will participate in a community co-design process, acting as partners in decision-making to determine how funds are allocated.
