APRIL
"City Spies" Author James Ponti (April)
Genre: Action, adventure, and mystery, appealing to fans of Spy School and similar series.
This story focus on orphaned teens who are recruited by British spy know as "Mother" to create a secret team to carry out missions. Each teen is recruited for their special abilities that help them live on their own( technical skills, deceptiveness, and sleight of hand). Each character in this thrilling story is identified by the city they were selected from. This series is sure to keep on your toes and ready for the next book!!
MAY
"I Will Always Write Back: How One Letter Changed Two Lives" (MAY) Authors: Caitlin Alifirenka, Martin Ganda, and Liz Welch (co-author).
Genre: Dual memoir, young adult non-fiction.
This story focus on friendship and overcoming adversity. Centered around development in school and how friendship, kindness and generosity can help positively impact a person's life. The narrative alternates between Martin and Catlin life story.
JUNE
"The Miscalculation of Lighting Girl" Author Stacy McAnulty ( JUNE)
Genre: Middle-grade fiction, often compared to books like The Fourteenth Goldfish and Counting by Sevens.
This story focus on a girl who becomes a math genius after an unfortunate accident. With her a advance math skills she is consider to be to advance to be in middle school with other students. But to build better social skills and development she stays and builds strong friendships and learns how to be outside her comfort zone.
JULY
"The Hero Next Door" Author : Linda Sue Park, Anna Dobbin, R.J. Palacio, Rita Williams-Garcia, and editor Olugbemisola Rhuday-Perkovich ( JULY)
This book has a collection of thirteen stories filled with diversity and inclusivity. These stories are filled with ordinary people and their journey on being brave in everyday life with small acts of courage, kindness, and resilience.

For the next four months, you'll have the chance to meet and talk to the authors of the books, meet and talk to other students at Durham County libraries, and win prizes when you participate in our book-related challenges. You can choose to do as many activties as you like or choose to do no activies. Everyone is welcome and everyone has an opportunity to decide how they will interact with DBC!
We have many special events happening this year! One in particular is the April opportunity to ask the author of City Spies any questions about his book. In addition partnering with Duke Femmes + for fun interactive activites such as learning basic coding, solving cyphers, invisible ink creation, and ninja stars! DBC invites you to join us for an eventful season of fun and thrilling adventure!
We will be having one small group discussion each month at a local library. Details for each book will be announced on the first of each month. Be sure to join us!
