Destigmatizing dementia. By raising awareness, promoting risk reduction, and outreach education on dementia for professionals and residents, we strive to reduce the stigma surrounding dementia.

Developing services for people living with dementia and care partners. This includes the implementation of a dementia care plan, education, an adult day activity program, support groups, support networks, respite care, grief programs, and social activities. A resource directory crafted by members of this group, “Planning Your Journey,” is available in physician offices for each newly diagnosed person offering an invitation to join the dementia community.

Crafting an inclusive culture for those with dementia. We seek to create an inclusive culture for people living with dementia by finding and developing resources that are focused on their needs. We firmly believe their experience matters and we seek to amplify their voices. This is why we feature their stories on our website and encourage them to participate in our work and serve on advisory committees that inform local dementia care providers. We feel privileged to have people living with dementia participate in DDC events because we value their insights on how we can better support them and improve our response as a community.
