A small team of educators at WHS came together to develop a transdisciplinary learning opportunity to support both students and teachers while living in the COVID-19 pandemic.
Since March of 2020, I have been working like my of my educator and LMS colleagues from home due to the COVID-19 Outbreak. As an LMS I was asked to build a robust digital tool professional learning plan and tutorials with my fellow Wilton Public School Library Media Specialists. What we quickly realized as LMSs was that emergency eLearning is not how we had ever done business before. Meeting daily in video conferences on Zoom and Google Meets created a new normal that none of us were prepared for. I am proud to say that I am proud of my collaborative work with my fellow LMS colleagues to be responsive to any digital tool and or instructional question that came our way.
While in the middle of the COVID-19 emergency learning from home, one of my general education peers and I meet on Zoom to discuss the potential for a transdisciplinary learning experience for students across the high school. My science colleague and I cultivated a small team of innovative teachers to prototype a project based learning experience. We concluded that we wanted to support our students and staff's social emotional and academic needs during this pandemic.
