The Battle of Worcester was fierce and bloody. Many Royalist soldiers died in the battle. The Cathedral was a key location in the aftermath.
Parliamentarian soldiers used the Nave as a base. They would have camped here and stabled their horses in here. Take a look round the Nave. Can you imagine the place filled with tired and wounded soldiers camp fires and horses?
The Cathedral was also used for storing ammunition (guns and canons). They used the crypt as one of the storage locations. Imagine what would have happened to the Cathedral if that had caught fire!
