Manufacturing Engineers support are responsible for manufacturing processes and lines for a given product. They work on equipment related issues (validations, problem solving of failing equipment), non conformance investigations, and assessment of products with possible defects. Additionally they work on process improvement projects that would help improve efficiency, ergonomics or cost effectiveness of the production process.

Example Project: "Line Design - converting production line of specific products to one piece flow for Lean manufacturing. I am the owner of this project and have been conducting time studies with the operations team to identify how to convert the current process to one piece flow. Based on what areas needed improvement I have worked with the operations leaders to make changes to the number of operators involved, equipment used, etc. to increase the efficiency of the line."
Piece of Advice from a Duke BME Graduate: "Don’t be afraid to ask for help if you don’t know something and collaborate with the other engineers on the team. Learn from other manufacutring engineers and leverage their learnings to improve your own processes"
