Dufferin House Escape Room

"Strange things happen here" -- that's what they told you when you came to visit the Museum of Dufferin. "What is that supposed to mean," you wonder?

As you explore the museum, nothing seems out of the ordinary. You enter the old log cabin to have a look around. They told you not to touch anything, but your curiosity gets the better of you when you see an old trunk in the first bedroom at the top of the stairs. You just want to take a little peek inside.

You lift the latch and position your hands on each corner of the lid to lift it carefully and quietly. As you begin to lift the lid you hear a loud noise. The front door of the house slams shut, giving you a terrible fright!

Your heart racing, you abandon the trunk, rush down the stairs and try the door. It's locked! As you race around, trying not to panic, you discover that every door and every window is locked! Returning to the trunk, you find small box with a number lock and a letter that reads:

You've been naughty, and now you are locked in. The only way to escape is to solve each puzzle and obtain a number for the lock. If you manage to unlock this box, you can be on your way. ~ The Ghosts of the Dufferin House.

How to Play:

There are six (6) puzzles to complete. Clues and ciphers are built into the pictures of rooms in the Dufferin House (the Museum of Dufferin's historic log cabin).

After you solve the puzzle, enter the answer(s) in the form field below the picture. If you enter the answer correctly and click "submit", you will see a message that includes a number for the lock box.

Complete all 6 puzzles and you will have the 6 digits required to open the lock box and escape.

Tips:

  • Pay careful attention to the instructions for entering your answer. For example, you might need to enter words in all lowercase letters or separate words with a comma (,). Instructions vary between puzzles.

  • You might want to keep a pencil and paper handy to write down ideas and answers as you go.

  • If you get stuck on a puzzle, you can navigate to the next puzzle using the buttons at the bottom of the page.
