Photoshop Project Reflection
For my Photoshop project, I created an image that represents the dream of becoming a Supreme Court Justice. As someone entering the legal field, this is a powerful and meaningful goal for me. I chose to design an image centered around the Supreme Court and its Justices to show how this dream is both inspiring and difficult to reach. I wanted the image to speak to all the law students and future judges who see the Supreme Court as the highest level of legal achievement.
The main idea behind my design was to show how this goal can feel real and distant at the same time. To represent that feeling, I used a dark blue to light blue gradient background. Dark blue at the top stands for dreaming, like the night sky when we sleep. The light blue at the bottom represents reality—daytime—showing that even though the dream feels far away, it's still possible to achieve.
To make the scene feel more dreamlike, I added a foggy effect using the brush tool and smudge tool. These tools helped me blend the background and make it look soft, almost like a memory or vision. I also used the erase tool and background remover to clean up parts of the image and place new items smoothly into the scene.
One of the main features in the background is a scroll with the swearing-in speech on it. This represents the important moment when someone officially becomes a Supreme Court Justice. I chose to fade it slightly into the background so it wouldn’t overpower the image, but still be noticeable to those who look closely.
Finally, I placed images of the Justices on the steps leading up to the Court. This part of the design was meant to be symbolic—the steps show progress, and the presence of the Justices shows that the goal is reachable. The justices are scaled smaller to show the grander of the supreme court how justices are changeable. I wanted to remind myself and others that, with hard work and dedication, it’s possible to stand on those steps one day.
Overall, this project helped me use Photoshop not just as a design tool, but as a way to express emotion, motivation, and meaning. I learned how to use layering, gradients, blending, and visual symbolism to tell a story. Most importantly, it reminded me of why I’m passionate about the law and gave me a visual way to hold onto that dream.
