Piano Restoration Drive
Dubuque Senior’s Steinway Model D Grand Piano
The Dubuque Senior Music Boosters, led by parents of students of Dubuque Senior’s Music Department, are leading the drive to refurbish the Steinway Model D Concert Grand Piano. The piano was built in 1957 and purchased by Senior from Dubuque’s own Renier’s Music not long after.
New Auditorium, New Piano?
With the construction at Dubuque Senior High School, the Senior Auditorium was remodeled and brought new life to our concerts and productions. In addition, the Music Department has new Orchestra and Band rehearsal rooms with storage along with 8 new practice rooms!
New Piano Space
Previously, the old auditorium didn’t have space for the Steinway Grand to be on stage where it belonged. Instead, it sat covered in the corner of the auditorium. Now, with the remodel, there is a specific garage behind the stage built specially for the Steinway’s storage.

We are excited to have our piano sent for refurbishing not far from here. Premier Piano Services, located in Cedar Rapids is a Steinway Certified Rebuilder - meaning our piano will have the same parts, specifications and expertise in its rebuild, as it did when it was first created. How can you help?
We are looking to raise $100,000 towards the full repair and restoration of our Steinway Grand Piano. It may seem like a lot and it is, however a new piano Steinway Model D Concert Grand Piano starts between $250,000 to $300,000. Once our piano is back, it is just as new as it was almost 70 years ago for a third of the price.
Anything you can give would be appreciated. A donation of $100 can go towards fixing three piano keys, $250 donation buys hammers and felts for Middle C and D in the piano. A donation of $500 helps with creating the hard rock maple ribs on the new soundboard or towards the ebony finish of the case of the piano. A donation of $5,000 buys the Sitka Spruce to build a new soundboard!
All donations will be acknowledged and placed on a Donors’ Recognition Wall outside the Lamb-Hedeman auditorium. There are multiple levels you can donate and be recognized!

How Else Can I Help the Music Boosters?
You can make a donation to the boosters using the form below. All donations will be recognized during the school year in music programs at concerts.
If you're a parent of a student in the music programs, you can come to our meetings. Every first Tuesday of the month the Boosters meet in the Student Council room at 7pm.
Volunteer to help 'backstage' at our concerts, the Madrigal, Marching band performances or other events where the Senior Music Department is performing. Contact a Senior Music Director or one of the Parent Booster Officers.
