In case people are skimming and don't read further down, I'm going to start this review with the factor that really shines about this hotel - its staff. Most of the time I've stayed at a hotel, I've not really needed the concierge desk, but on this occasion, during a six night stay, I did, and felt that, without their help, our stay would have been significantly more difficult and stressful. I'd like to thank Francis, Venkat and Yadav, for all their help in getting our lost pram back, but most of all for the work they did on the child car seat, in the absence of any support from Thrifty. This went far above and beyond what was expected, and we are deeply grateful. I'd also mention how friendly the rest of the team is, particularly Daniel and Nader at the front of the hotel.In terms of amenities, we found that the apartment we had contained everything we needed, and Abubaker took very good care of the room, despite our two year old daughter's best attempts to mess it up. The apartment contained one and a half bathrooms, a very generous living room with a dining area, and a well-equipped kitchen. There is a washing machine in the kitchen, but not a dryer, and the only criticism I might make is that this would have been useful, given that the apartment did not have a balcony. During our stay, there was no noise from other rooms, and excellent water pressure in the shower. Very comfortable bed, too. The hotel has a rooftop pool, which was uncrowded during our visit. Very friendly lifeguard, too (sorry, I didn't get his name). Oud Metha, where the hotel is located might not suit somebody who has come to Dubai for the JBR / Palm experience, but we found it had plenty of excellent restaurants, at very reasonable prices, good amenities, and convenient transport links. There are two supermarkets within a minute's walk (literally) from the door of the apartment block, as well as barbers, restaurants etc. It is perhaps fifteen minutes from the main airport, so good for getting there, perhaps 30 AED in a taxi. We would definitely stay again. I liked the friendly, helpful atmosphere, the neighbourhood, and the home comforts that this hotel has to offer. 2351a5e196
