Dear Parents,

Welcome to Daarul Uloom Physical Education! I am excited to begin a new year and look forward to getting to know you & your child this year. This is my 2nd year teaching an elective at the school and my 1ST teaching physical education.

About me: My name is Mutiat Mabifa-Rosenje. I was born and raised in Nigeria but moved to the United States in 2001. I have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Currently practice as a Registered Nurse at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center Part-time. I am married with 5 children, 3 of whom attend Daarul Uloom. I enjoy sports, crafting, cooking, baking, and much more. I played basketball from middle school to college level. I also was involved in track and field, cross country, and soccer. I am always open to anything sports related so this year I will be exploring some sports with the children too. I am thrilled to be part of this school and community.

Attire: Students earn points for wearing appropriate attire each day. Students are expected to arrive to class wearing islamically appropriate attire. Athletic gym shoes, designed for exercise, are required in order to participate (boots, dress shoes, & slip-ons are prohibited). Shoes must be fastened to student’s feet with shoelaces or velcro at all times. Students are also encouraged to remove all jewelry before participating in physical education class. This includes necklaces, chains, bracelets, wristbands, rings, watches, keys worn around the neck and earrings (post style earrings permitted). Dress comfortably with sweatpants and shirts long enough to cover your hips. I don’t want to see body parts exposed while we are exercising or playing games.

Conduct: Students are expected to have appropriate classroom behavior each day. Students must be respectful, demonstrate good sportsmanship, and comply with all classroom/ safety rules. Any student that is being disrespectful or acting out of conduct will be sent to the principal’s office and receive a Zero for the day.

Effort: Students earn points for the effort they put forth each day. Students must participate to the best of their ability at all times while in physical education class. Any student that chooses not to participate to the best of their ability at all times must have a written notice from a doctor, school nurse, or parent/guardian to be excused. I will be grading the children based on wearing proper attire, participation and sportsmanship.

Physical Education grades are updated weekly using Quick School. This is an on-line grading system that can be accessed through the school website or by downlaoding the app. Parents are encouraged to track their child’s performance regularly using Quick School system. Office personnel can assist parents with accessing the Quick School. I can also be reached via e-mail for any questions or concerns you may have. My email is rosenjem@dupeoria.org
