Entering Basic Data in an Excel Spreadsheet

Excel is an excellent tool for organizing and manipulating data, but first you must know how to enter the data into a spreadsheet. In this assignment you will learn how to:

• insert a header;
• enter data into cells;
• format text in cells
• use the SUM function to add a column of numbers;
• format numbers as currency; and
• add borders to cells to create underlining.

Follow These Steps

1. Open the file Spreadsheet 1 - Shopping Budget by clicking on the blue hyperlink.
2. Read and follow all of the directions in the file that you have opened.
3. Several instructional videos are found throughout the directions, including an introductory video at the beginning. You are expected to watch the videos.
