This week, students will begin planning their poem about weather. As part of our module, students will choose a type of weather and brainstorm descriptive words, sensory details, and figurative language to bring their ideas to life.

temperature (n) - Temperature is how hot or cold a place is.
toasty (adj) - Something that is toasty is warm and comfortable.
chief (adj) - Someone who has chief in a job title is the lead or the most important person doing that job.
hazy (adj) - Something that is hazy is not clear or is hard to see
boast (v) - When you boast about something, you speak about it too proudly.
ruin (v) - When you ruin something, you spoil it.
visible (adj) - Something that is visible can be seen.
particles (n) - Particles are tiny pieces of something.
depends (v) - If one thing depends on another, the first thing can be changed by the second thing.
hovers (v) - Something that hovers stays in place.
develop (v) - When something starts to develop, it grows and changes.
joined (v) - Things that are joined are connected.
average (adj) - Something that is average is normal or usual.
advantages (n) - Advantages are things that help put you ahead.
front (n) - A cold front is where cold air meets warm air.
impressed (v) - If you are impressed, you like something a lot.
gusts (n) - Gusts are short, strong rushes of wind.
flash (n) - A flash is a sudden burst of light.
supplies (n) - Supplies are the things people need to be ready for something.
layer (n) - If you have on more than one layer of clothing, you are wearing several things on top of one another to keep warm.
Module 6: Weather Wise
The key concepts that tie this module together are: climate, precipitation, and temperature. Our discussions in class will circle back to these words throughout Module 6.
In Module 6, our class will be learning about different kinds of weather and how weather may change from season to season. We will read books and poems about the weather and watch a video of a cool weather experiment.
