On this site, you will find information related to Maker Education in Rhode Island and also general maker information.

Maker Education is the use of lessons that require creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills centered around the making of things. It developed from and is part of STEAM (science technology engineering art math).

This site is a FuseRI Project. It has been developed as a part of the Highlander Institute's Fuse Fellowship as a resource for educators interested in Maker Education.

  • FabNewport
    FabNewport provides Newport County residents with alternative pathways to science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) through mentoring and personalized education. We offer:
    Classes and workshops for students during the school day
    After school programs for middle and high school students
    Evening workshop for adults
    Facility rentals for local companies and entrepreneurs

  • RI STEAM Center at RI College
    The Rhode Island STEM Center was established as a centralized, focused, and coordinated hub for statewide science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education efforts. The creation of the STEM Center followed a statewide initiative that identified the need for improving STEM education.

    Ocean State Maker Mill is a membership-run organization with the mission of helping encourage the usage of arts, engineering, and science to help make ideas become reality. We provide a workshop for our members to build their dreams, and educational space for the greater New England community to learn new skills.

    Celebrate New England D.I.Y: Rhode Island Mini Maker Faire features hands-on making, building & hacking, crafting, garage technology, arts and creativity for sale, and robots on August 13th, 2016. The Providence edition of the RI Mini Maker Faire is embedded in AS220’s Foo Fest street festival. The East Bay Edition of the Faire will be held in Newport.
