State is a collection of chapters from schools only in Wisconsin. DSHA is one of twelve chapters who attend! It is a great opening to the world of Latin beyond just at school.

At state, students from all over compete in many competitions. There are different types of art competitions, oratory competitions, designing war machines, and different testing sessions. Winners are later declared at the end of convention at the last assembly. The election for the following year's WJCL board also occurs during this time! The new board members are sworn in on the during the final assembly as well.

Schools also compete together in Spirit! Before assemblies, all the schools gather and show off Latin cheers they have created. The State Board then judges you based on you overall hype, including volume, moves, and expression. It's a great way to show off school pride and celebrate classics with other Latin students. Always make sure to smile!
