One of our main goals in GDSC is giving our student body the ability to help their local communities.
For each year, GDSC will actively seek out and develop tech-based solutions for the issues faced by organizations in the local community, be they local businesses, NGOs or non-profit organizations.
A highlight of this endeavour is that it doesn't just help uplift the lives of those in need, but it also provides the platform for the student community to put the skills they lean in their GDSC workshops to practice in a real world scenario.
In addition, these projects are then reviewed for the annual GDSC Solution Challenge, which evaluates the solutions built by DSC chapters from North America to Sub Saharan Africa to Southeast Asia, and selects the top solutions which created the greatest positive impact on the local community.
To kick off the new and existing DSC chapters of Southeast Asia for the years 2019/2020, Google Developers hosted 98 leads from universities in Singapore, Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia and Malaysia.
The summit was held from the 6th to the 8th of September in Kuala Lumpur, and included amazing and insightful workshops of all variety from Googlers around the world.
The summit also had a cultural night and incorporated an open learning environment and encouraged peer-to-peer engagements among DSC Leads and Googlers, which lead to the creation of an amazing network of friends and mentors.
