Statement
Red Dawn endorses resolutions that will accelerate the construction of an independent, internationalist, and socialist party. We do not support the continued cooperation with the Democratic Party, so you will not find any resolutions which further legitimize that strategy.
We are choosing not to endorse proposals that specifically put forward political programs for DSA to adopt in order to broaden our coalition and avoid sectarian disagreements.
CR02: International Committee Consensus Resolution – Building an Internationalist Party:
As socialists, we believe in internationalism. It is important to build relationships with like minded parties around the world and utilizing our already-existing membership in the Progressive International will solidify our good relations with other member-organizations.
CR04: National Political Education Committee Consensus Resolution – 2025:
As a pre-party organization, DSA must take it upon itself to be committed to politically educating both our members and the masses of workers. This resolution will significantly improve DSA’s ability to do outreach and educate cadre.
CR05: National Electoral Commission Consensus Resolution:
Getting candidates to run as independents and in non-partisan races is important, but the most important part of this resolution is its focus on a unified endorsement policy and the SIO Network. Too often, DSA endorses candidates that immediately turn their back on us and the broader socialist movement. This resolution will go a long way in creating and maintaining party discipline among electoral candidates.
R03: For a Politicized and Member-Driven Growth & Development in DSA:
This resolution will bring the general membership, local chapters, and national leadership together and begin to develop a “party-line” with the proposal of monthly talking points. This effort will help DSA come together on messaging so every chapter is on the same page. GDC training will also help chapters be experienced and disciplined organizers with a politicized approach to recruiting.
R04: For a Socialist Party in Years, Not Decades:
This resolution fast-tracks the path to DSA becoming an independent party and establishes processes to build the party at both a local and national level. As the largest socialist organization in the country, it is imperative that DSA take the lead in building a party and reaching out to other socialist orgs with the goal of merging or working together shows a good-faith approach to socialist unity that will help organize and coalesce the movement against capitalism.
R08: Democratic Discipline: A Uniform Process for Electoral Censure Across DSA:
As stated. DSA electeds too often are elected on the backs of the organization and then turn away from us. As DSA transforms into a party, we must clamp down on our electeds and establish a uniform process to censure and hold them accountable. This process will keep regular members engaged with their representatives and incentivize electeds to adhere to the party line.
R09: For Political and Technological Independence: A Path to Exit from Capitalist and Democratic Party Tech:
This resolution perfectly embodies the spirit of an independent party and the principles of DSA. Resolving to use tools that align with our principles of democratic control and worker power, we affirm our values in every aspect of our party. This resolution also makes clear our opposition to the Democratic Party and Big Tech.
R11: A 50 State Strategy:
The tenets of this resolution are a necessity for any political party. DSA must build statewide chapters that can serve as the respective state party for DSA. Not only will this cut down on bureaucracy and administrative redundancy but it will also begin building party infrastructure at the state and local levels.
R13: For a Robust & Centralized National Resource Library:
This resolution is essential in building a unified party with accessible resources for local branches to use in design and organizational efforts.
R15: Take the Fight to the Rural Front:
Class struggle does not end where the city meets the countryside. DSA’s organizing should reflect that reality. Small chapters in largely rural and conservative areas feel left behind and feel that the urban base of DSA is out of touch. This resolution will help to metaphorically “abolish the distinction between town and country”.
R21: Democracy For All: a NEC Subcommittee for Voting Rights:
As DSA grows into a party we must agitate among and advocate for the rights of those who do not have any. This will looks like the right of suffrage for those who do not currently have it. This campaign will not only benefit those populations, but also expand DSA’s base of support as we assert ourselves in the struggle for equality.
R22: For a Fighting Anti-Zionist DSA:
Commits DSA to fighting for Palestine and against Zionism. Supports BDS, the Student Intifada, and establishes standards that all prospective candidates must agree to in order to recieve an endorsement.
R26: Fight Fascist State Repression & ICE:
Lays blame at the feet of both Republicans and Democrats for funding and maintaining ICE. Resolves that DSA become the leading organization advocating for the abolition of ICE, and establishes resources to support chapters in that area.
R31: Rejecting the Normalization of Zionism and Occupation:
DSA should not engage in the normalization of colonialism and should reject the tacit endorsement of the state of so-called "Israel". This resolution would strengthen DSA's opposition to the Zionist entity through the language we use in official statements.
R32: Towards a Multilingual DSA / Hacia un DSA Multilingüe:
The US is a diverse country, and the languages spoken here are no different. We must make an effort to support those who do not speak English in order to effectively organize in whatever community needs organizing. This will be especially significant in areas with large refugee and immigrant populations.
R37: Building a United Front Toward 2028:
As the largest socialist organization in the country, DSA must embed itself in class struggle and support workers movements. May Day 2028 is set to be a historic day of class war. This resolution commits DSA to building organizational and electoral coalitions with labor and likeminded socialist organizations, independent of the Democratic Party.
R39: Organizing Against the IHRA Working Definition:
Organizes DSA against the IHRA definition of anti-semitism, which defines Anti-Zionism as an antisemitic ideology. This resolution rejects this assertion and recomends DSA to agitate in favor of the Jerusalem Declaration on Antisemitism (JDA) definition.
R41: One DSA: Toward a Unified Endorsement Process:
Standardizes the endorsement process to give local chapters more say in the national endorsement process. Reaffirms DSA's need to be independent of the Democrats through electoral strategy and organizing.
R42: Labor for an Arms Embargo:
Commits DSA to agitating alongside and within the labor movement to win an arms embargo on the Zionist Entity. This resolution engages the labor movement in international solidarity and targets the supply chain of oppression.
R43: Locals-First DSA: Increase Dues Income for Locals and Stabilize National Budget:
As we build an independent party, the local branches will require more funds to build their own local infrastructure. This move will also help engage local members who feel their money is going a longer way in their local community, which will incentivize them to continue organizing in the party.
