Druk Peci will provide ready market and therefore motivate and encourage purchase of homemade products thereby leading to import substitution. Furthermore, Druk Peci is in line with the objectives of Economic Stimulus Plan (ESP) for Employment generation, Export promotion and Import substitution.

Druk Peci will help to fulfill the rapidly increasing demand of pencils “specifically the literate population of Bhutan”. Due to the unavailability of such pencil manufacturing industry to meet the demand of pencils, Bhutan needs to import pencils from India. Due to this demand-supply gap, prices of pencils per piece are increasing day by day. Druk Peci will not only decrease the import bill of the country but also will decrease the price of pencils which will increase the purchasing power of the individuals thereby increasing their social welfare.

There are two possible reasons for which our target customers would love to buy homemade pencils:

1. In an era of high rate of inflation, this low priced range of products will attract

our target customers to purchase (Target Customers).

2. Export Promotion and Import Substitution (Government of Bhutan).
