Dr. Soumyakanti Bose

Assistant Professor

Dept. of Physics, SRM University-AP

Amaravati 522240, Andhra Pradesh, India

Quantum information science and technology, grounded in fundamental principles such as the no-cloning theorem and nonlocal correlations between spatially separated systems, enables a range of practical tasks that are otherwise unattainable using classical resources. Among the various physical systems employed in quantum information processing, my research focuses on optical states with continuous spectra, formally known as continuous-variable (CV) systems and hybrid systems comprising of both discrete and continuous spectra. I also explore various new avenues in variational quantum algorithms.

I completed my doctoral thesis on quantum optical information processing with non-Gaussian modulations in 2018 under the supervision of Prof. M. Sanjay Kumar at S. N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, Kolkata, affiliated with the University of Calcutta. Following the completion of my first postdoctoral tenure with Prof. Arvind at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Mohali in 2020, I have carried out my second postdfoctoral endeavor with Prof. Hyunseok Jeong at Seoul National University, Korea. Finally, I have joined the Dept. of Physics at SRM University - AP,  Amaravati 522240, Andhra Pradesh, India on October 22, 2025.

With a background in theoretical quantum optics and quantum information theory, I am currently engaged in research on state-of-the-art applications in quantum cryptography and quantum communication. In addition, my broader interests encompass foundational aspects of quantum theory, including nonclassicality and contextuality.
