Leading a project entitled "Occupational exposure to antimicrobial-resistant bacteria in dairy cattle environments using metagenomic assays.
Optimizing pre- and post-harvest factors to extend the shelf life and improve the quality of whole fish and fillets of Salmonids and White Sturgeon.
Evaluating the effects of traditional and alternative slaughtering methods, different processing methods, and numerous packaging technologies on the retail shelf life and quality of large finfish.
Assessing the effectiveness of various sampling techniques for quickly detecting foodborne pathogens in meat items.

Assisting the National Antimicrobial Resistance Monitoring System (NARMS) projects to test Salmonella, Campylobacter, Escherichia coli, and Enterococcus in retail meat samples (chicken, turkey, beef, and pork) and Vibrio, Aeromonas and Enterococcus in seafood samples (shrimp, salmon, and tilapia).
Engaging with DNA extractions and library preparation for whole genome sequencing of E. coli, Salmonella, and Campylobacter from meat samples.
