The lungs and airways play an important role in maintaining normal breathing and supplying oxygen to the body. Respiratory symptoms can occur due to infections, allergies, asthma, environmental exposure, chronic lung diseases, or other medical conditions.
People searching for a Pulmonologist in moggapair chennai can consult Dr. Pugazhendhi Selvam for respiratory evaluation and management.
His practice covers both adult and pediatric pulmonary care. This is particularly useful for families where children and adults may have different respiratory concerns.
Common symptoms that may require respiratory evaluation include:
Persistent cough
Recurrent cough
Wheezing
Shortness of breath
Chest congestion
Breathing difficulty
Repeated respiratory infections
Allergy-related symptoms
Snoring or disturbed sleep
Exercise-related breathing difficulty
Recurrent asthma symptoms
Not every respiratory symptom indicates a serious disease. However, symptoms that persist, repeatedly return, or interfere with normal activities should be medically assessed.
Children can develop respiratory symptoms for many different reasons. Viral infections, allergies, asthma, environmental triggers, and other conditions can contribute to cough, wheezing, or breathing difficulty.
Dr. Selvam provides specialized pediatric respiratory evaluation and care. Parents may seek consultation when a child has recurring cough, repeated wheezing episodes, breathing problems, recurrent chest infections, or suspected asthma or allergies.
A child's respiratory evaluation may differ from an adult assessment. The doctor considers the child's age, symptoms, medical history, development, and clinical findings while planning further evaluation.
Services available include pediatric lung care, allergy and asthma care, child care, vaccination support, lung function assessment where appropriate, and pediatric bronchoscopy when clinically indicated.
Pediatric respiratory conditions require an approach appropriate for the child's age, symptoms, and overall health. Some children may experience occasional respiratory infections, while others may have recurrent cough, wheezing, asthma, allergies, or other chronic respiratory conditions.
Dr. Pugazhendhi Selvam provides pediatric pulmonary care for children with a range of respiratory concerns. As a Pediatric Pulmonologist in Mogappair Chennai he evaluates breathing-related symptoms and considers the child's medical history and clinical needs when planning further care.
Parents should consider consulting a Pulmonologist in Mogappair Chennai when a child's breathing symptoms are frequent, persistent, severe, or affecting sleep, school activities, exercise, or everyday life.
A detailed medical assessment can help determine whether symptoms may be related to asthma, allergies, infection, or another respiratory condition. Early evaluation can also help parents understand the condition and the appropriate steps for managing their child's respiratory health.
Allergies can affect the nose, throat, airways, skin, and other parts of the body. When allergies affect the respiratory system, they may contribute to coughing, wheezing, nasal symptoms, or breathing difficulty.
Asthma is another common respiratory condition that can cause episodes of wheezing, cough, chest tightness, and shortness of breath.
Dr. Selvam provides allergy and asthma care for children and adults. Depending on the patient's symptoms, evaluation may include medical history, examination, allergy testing, lung function assessment, or other investigations.
For selected patients, allergy testing and immunotherapy may also be considered.
Asthma management is generally based on the patient's individual symptoms and clinical condition. Patients should follow their prescribed treatment plan and attend follow-up consultations when recommended.
People with recurring allergy symptoms or asthma may benefit from an evaluation focused on identifying possible triggers and understanding their respiratory symptoms. Proper assessment can help determine the factors contributing to repeated symptoms and guide an appropriate management approach.
Possible triggers can include dust, pollen, environmental pollutants, animal allergens, weather changes, infections, or other individual factors. Keeping track of when symptoms occur may also help identify patterns that can be discussed during a medical consultation.
Dr. Pugazhendhi Selvam provides evaluation and care for allergy and asthma-related concerns in both children and adults. As an Allergy and Asthma Specialist in Mogappair Chennai he assesses symptoms and medical history to understand the patient's individual respiratory and allergy-related concerns.
Where clinically appropriate, allergy testing can provide additional information about possible triggers. Immunotherapy may also be considered for selected allergy patients after a detailed medical evaluation and assessment of their suitability for the treatment.
Adults may experience respiratory symptoms due to asthma, COPD, infections, smoking exposure, allergies, occupational exposure, or other lung conditions.
Dr. Selvam provides adult pulmonary care for a broad range of respiratory concerns.
His services include assessment of chronic cough, wheezing, breathing difficulty, respiratory infections, asthma, COPD, tuberculosis, sleep-related breathing disorders, and other pulmonary conditions.
Depending on the symptoms, the doctor may recommend lung function testing, imaging, laboratory investigations, sleep assessment, or other diagnostic procedures.
The treatment approach depends on the underlying condition and the patient's individual health needs.
Families often need respiratory care that can address different age groups. Children may require pediatric-specific evaluation, while adults may need assessment for chronic lung disease, asthma, COPD, sleep disorders, or other respiratory conditions.
Dr. Selvam provides care for both age groups through Chandra Lungs & Child Clinic.
Patients searching for a Child and adult Lung doctor in moggapair chennai can seek consultation for respiratory symptoms affecting children or adults.
The clinic's services include pediatric and adult lung care, asthma and allergy management, lung function testing, bronchoscopy, sleep studies, pulmonary rehabilitation, and other respiratory services.
Lung function tests are used to assess how effectively the lungs work. They can provide useful information when evaluating respiratory conditions such as asthma, COPD, and other pulmonary disorders.
Dr. Selvam provides comprehensive advanced lung function testing based on clinical requirements.
The type of test recommended depends on the patient's symptoms, age, medical history, and suspected condition.
These assessments may help the doctor understand airflow and lung performance and support decisions about further respiratory management.
Bronchoscopy is a specialized procedure used to examine the airways and, when required, assist with certain diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
Dr. Selvam provides both adult and pediatric bronchoscopy when clinically indicated.
The decision to perform bronchoscopy depends on factors such as symptoms, examination findings, imaging results, and the suspected medical condition.
Patients and parents can discuss the reason for the procedure, preparation requirements, and expected process with the doctor before undergoing it.
Sleep can be affected by breathing problems. Snoring, restless sleep, pauses in breathing, excessive daytime sleepiness, or other sleep-related symptoms may require evaluation.
A sleep study can provide information about breathing and other physiological changes during sleep.
Dr. Selvam provides sleep-related respiratory evaluation and sleep studies when medically appropriate.
A proper assessment can help identify whether symptoms may be associated with a sleep-related breathing disorder and whether further management is needed.
Pulmonary rehabilitation is a structured approach that can support selected patients with chronic respiratory conditions.
It may include exercise-related guidance, breathing techniques, education, and other components depending on the patient's condition.
The suitability and structure of pulmonary rehabilitation depend on individual clinical requirements.
Dr. Selvam offers pulmonary rehabilitation as part of the clinic's comprehensive respiratory services.
Vaccination can be an important part of preventive healthcare, particularly for individuals who may have an increased risk from certain respiratory infections.
The need for specific vaccines depends on factors such as age, medical history, risk factors, and current medical recommendations.
The clinic provides vaccination care as part of its broader child and respiratory healthcare services.
Patients and parents can discuss vaccination requirements with the doctor based on individual health needs.
