Light intensity and myopia progression in school children, Ophthalmology Journal
This trial was conducted in China whereby the intervention arm primary school children were encouraged to spend their time outdoors upto 11 hours per week while the control arm school children were not given any instructions. The study revealed that children who spent more time outdoors had less rapid change of myopia as compared to those who spent less (0.47D VS 0.34D per year). The change in myopic shift was even slower in those who were exposed >11 hours and had exposure to at least 1000 lux of light intensity (0.16D/year).
