Nabin Paudel, PhD

Scientist, Clinician and Educator

About me :

I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Centre for Eye Research Ireland, Technological University Dublin. My research focuses on the control of the epidemic refractive error "Myopia" using low concentration (0.01%) Atropine eye drops in the caucasian population. My long-term goal is to understand mechanisms underlying the rapid growth of eyeball in progressive myopia and the effect of Atropine eye drops on myopia control. Moreover, I am working on multiple other projects such as Nutrition and Glaucoma and analysing big data.

Before starting at CERI, TU Dublin, I was a teaching fellow in Nepal under the World Council of Optometry Teaching Fellowship where I lectured on paediatric optometry and visual electrophysiology to undergraduate optometry students. I was also an adjunct postdoctoral fellow at the University of Auckland from 2017 - 2018.

Between 2012 and 2016, I worked with Associate Professor Benjamin Thompson for my Doctoral degree at Visual Neuroscience Laboratory, The University of Auckland in Auckland, New Zealand. For my PhD research, I investigated the development of visual functions in preschool children born at risk of Neonatal Hypoglycaemia using clinical and psychophysical methods. I received my undergraduate degree in Optometry and Vision Science from Tribhuvan University, Nepal. I conducted my bachelor thesis research on visual deficits in children with Down Syndrome.

To date, I have authored/co-authored over 30 articles in national and international peer-reviewed journals. Visit my Researchgate profile here and Google Scholar profile here.
