Dr. Paolo Boffetta is an epidemiologist who is also one of the leading researchers on cancer and other chronic diseases. He has contributed to the understanding of the role of occupation, environment, alcohol, smoking, and nutrition in disease development.
At present, Dr. Paolo Boffetta is a professor and an associate director at Tisch Cancer Institute, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York. He has authored more than 1,300 scientific articles and 80 book chapters and has edited works in various scholarly publications. He is a Member of the editorial board of several scientific journals including Annals of Oncology (associate editor), Biomarkers, Cancer Discovery, Cancer Medicine, Disease Markers, European Journal of Clinical Investigation, Frontiers in Molecular Epidemiology (editor), International Archives of Occupational and Environmental Health, International Journal of Molecular Epidemiology and Genetics, Journal of the American College of Cardiology (section editor). He is the editor in chief of the 3rd Edition of Elsevier's Encyclopedia of Cancer.
Dr. Paolo Boffetta has worked with the American Cancer Society, American Health Foundation, International Agency for Research on Cancer, and other notable health institutions in the US and Europe.
