Dr. Manu Melwin Joy is currently working as Assistant Professor at School of Management Studies, CUSAT. He received his Bachelor's Degree in B.Tech (Civil Engineering) from Government Engineering College,Thrissur(2006) and Master Degree in Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Amrita School of Business, Coimbatore(2010). He obtained his Ph.D in Human Resource from Cochin University of Science and Technology (2017). He also holds additional post graduate degrees such as Master of Science (MSc) in Psychology from University of Madras, Tamil Nadu and Master of Arts (MA) in Sociology from University of Madras, Tamil Nadu. He had also qualified National Eligibility Test (NET) for Lectureship conducted by the University Grants Commission (UGC) (2012). In the beginning of his career, he served ESAF Microfinance Pvt Limited as Manager (Corporate Training). Later, he worked as assistant professor with Ilahia School of Management Studies, Muvatupuzha and SCMS School of Technology and Management, Cochin (SSTM). He has published 51 research papers in reputed International Journals and Conference Proceedings. Apart from publishing articles in accredited journals, he has authored seven books with the most recent one titled "PLAYBOUR - Gamification for employee engagement". He is a life time member of Indian Institute of Training and Development and Kerala Management Association.
Dr. Manu gave a TEDx Talk on the topic "Gamifying Tomorrow" on the event organized by St. Aloysius (Deemed to be University), Mangalore on 23rd February, 2025. Dr. Manu received the Don Bosco Alumni Achiever Award 2022 given by Past Pupils of Don Bosco, Don Bosco Schools of India from Fr. Thomas Koonan (Rector, Don Bosco Bhavan, Mannuthy) on 14th August, 2022 in recognition of the outstanding contributions to the society as an academician and expert in gamification techniques. Dr. Manu was honoured by V. Sivankutty (Minister for Education and Labour) during “Satkritham”, an event organized by NSS Cell, VHSE Wing, Directorate of General Education considering his remarkable efforts in giving training on the topic “Gamification for Learning and Development” to more than 1000 VHSE teachers in the year 2021. He is a recipient of prestigious awards like Vocational Excellence Award 2021 under the exclusive individual Category of "Best Professional Achievement" provided by Rotary International (Cochin Technopolis Chapter), Global Eminence Award 2021 under the exclusive individual category of “Best Academician of the Year Award” instituted by Bestow Edutrex International and Best Paper Award during the international conference organized by South Asian Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) held at SCMS Cochin Business School, Cochin.
He has handled more than 200 international and national sessions on gamification for corporates such as IBM, The Hindu Group, The Federal Bank, Apollo Tyres etc , goverment enterprises like Kochi Metro Private limited (KMRL), Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) etc and educational institutions like University of Technology and Applied Sciences (Oman), Princess Nourah Bint Abdul Rahman University ( Kingdom of Saudi Arabia), international University of Humanities and Development (Turkmenistan), Alatoo International University (Kyrgyzstan), Zanzibar University (Tanzania), California Lutherian University(Iran), Arab Open University (Oman), Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, Lesotho (Southern Africa) to name a few . Also, he had taken socially impactful gamification projects Like Project I CAN for developing a app for motivating cancer patients, Project Merry Metro engaging 6000 passengers in Kochi Metro, Project Hrudayapoorvam CIAL engaging 1000 passengers in Cochin Airport, Project Guru for training 1000 VHSE teachers, Project Acharya for training 1000 Principals for APKOS (Association for Principals of Kerala Oriented Schools), Project Varna Shalabhangal for gamifying Government Children’s Home, kakkanad, Project Oppam for Gamifying HIV AIDS Awareness, Project Ayushman Bhava for creating Basic Life Support Awareness, Project Anandakaram for gamifying the joy of giving, Project Marrodu Cherkkam for gamifying breast cancer awareness and much more.
