Professor at the Department of Physics, University of Nebraska at Omaha
Background:
Graduate Education: M.S., 2004, Ph.D., 2005, New Mexico State University, Las Cruces, NM
Expertise Highlights:
1) Pioneered intermediate step filling monolayer silane-based and further advanced silatrane-based surface chemistry, which to date has found many practical applications for surface modification, including single-molecule detection strategies and biophysical methods.{Krasnoslobodtsev, 2002; Karymov, 2007; Krasnoslobodtsev, 2012; Tong, 2013}
2) Developed the SERS immunoassay-based ultra-sensitive detection platform for monitoring cancer biomarkers and demonstrated the effectiveness of this platform for screening of clinical samples from cancer patients.{Krasnoslobodtsev, 2015; Smolsky, 2017; Duckworth, 2022}
3) Constructed a portable Raman Reader device for fast and high-throughput reading of analytical multiplexed arrays and cost-effective screening of multiple patient samples.{Krasnoslobodtsev, 2018; Duckworth, 2022}
4) Conceptualized the “label-free” strategy for detection and differentiation of freely circulating exosomes from bodily fluids and evaluated the potential of this technology for early detection of cancer.{Carmicheal, 2019}
5) Pioneered the analysis of the dynamic nature of nucleic acid nanostructures using static Atomic Force Microscopy imaging.{Sajja, 2018; Krasnoslobodtsev, 2023}
6) Demonstrated sub-nanometer spatial resolution of Tip-Enhanced Raman imaging (TERS) technique.{Smolsky, 2018; Wiki/Tip-enhanced_Raman_spectroscopy} Improved TERS probe preparation procedures to achieve >2000 signal enhancement factor, making possible the routine imaging of biological and 2-D materials.{Krasnoslobodtsev, 2016}
7) Repurposed the TERS technology for detection of transient species within the electric double layer in novel designs of fast rechargeable batteries.{Shen, 2021}
8) Adapted fluorescence readout strategy of atomically precise silver nanoclusters for robust and accurate detection of specific micro-RNA sequences.{Yourston, 2020}
9) Developed a fluorescence-based detection strategy for evaluating the levels of heavy metals (i.e. Hg2+) in water and soil for environmentally troubled regions.{Yourston, 2021}
10) Pioneered utilization of silver nanoclusters as charge mediators in single electrode, single enzyme self-powered biosensor designs {Gupta, 2023}.
