The Treasurer plays a role across city government by making sure financial practices are clear, consistent, and support how work gets done.
A Practical Approach to the Treasurer’s Office
The Treasurer’s job is not complicated in theory, but it often becomes difficult in practice. Residents deal with unclear bills, inconsistent answers, and being passed between offices.
David’s focus is straightforward:
Clear answers. No runaround.
That means:
explaining what residents owe and why
making sure information is consistent across offices
ensuring people are not sent from one department to another without resolution
keeping processes predictable and understandable
This work depends on coordination. The Treasurer does not operate alone. The office should work with the Assessor, Finance Department, and, at times, the County Treasurer. When that coordination breaks down, residents feel it immediately.
David’s experience working across boards and commissions has prepared him to keep those connections working smoothly. His role is not to control other offices, but to make sure the financial side of city government does not create confusion or delays.
Supporting Jackson’s Future
Clear and consistent financial practices support everything else the city is trying to do. When processes are predictable and understandable, residents can plan, businesses can invest, and departments can coordinate more effectively.
David’s focus is on making sure those processes work as they should. That means reducing confusion, improving consistency, and ensuring that financial practices support long-term stability without creating unnecessary barriers.
