Undergraduate Training & Mentorship
Members of the D’Souza research group actively mentor undergraduate students and provide hands-on opportunities to explore chemistry beyond the classroom. Undergraduate researchers work alongside graduate students and faculty members, gaining experience in laboratory techniques, scientific problem-solving, data analysis, and scientific communication.
SHARING RESEARCH, INSPIRING DISCOVERY
Undergraduate Research Presentations
Undergraduate researchers are encouraged to share their research through poster and oral presentations at university research events, scientific conferences, and professional meetings. These opportunities help students develop scientific communication skills, present their findings with confidence, and engage with researchers from across the scientific community.

Conference Outreach and Volunteering
Group members actively volunteer at local, national, and international scientific conferences. Through these activities, students assist with conference organization, engage with researchers from around the world, and contribute to building a vibrant scientific community.
BRINGING CHEMISTRY TO LIFE THROUGH ART
Scientific Visualization & Cover Design
Our scientific communication extends beyond publications and presentations. Since 2023, Viyanga Ileperuma, a graduate student in the D'Souza Research Group, has created 7+ original cover artworks for the group's research publications, transforming complex scientific concepts into engaging visual stories. These artworks have been selected for front and back covers of reputed scientific journals. Andrew Dawson, a senior graduate student in the group, has also contributed to the group's scientific cover art through the design of a featured journal cover. Together, these creative efforts showcase how scientific understanding and artistic expression can come together to communicate research in compelling and visually engaging ways.
