Descriptions of Datasets and GIS Codebooks

In the smartsheet below, you can view a list of the datasets and download the corresponding codebook. To download the codebooks, click on the paperclip icon to the left of the name of the dataset.

Codebooks are dictionaries capturing our naming conventions to facilitate harmonization across data sources and institutions. The codebooks include an overview of the structure of variable names. The logic of variable naming conventions is to make the data more user friendly and to limit confusion over the source and scaling of each variable.

The RECVD study created categories focused on neighborhood amenities (e.g. food, physical activity, social, and walking destinations, etc.) to learn more about the process see the NETS Categories Resources. There are other tools and supporting documents to help users get started.
