For this project, I researched the impacts of social media on myself and society.
After taking the quiz I found out that I may be on social media a little bit too much. My results were,
"You might not be 100% addicted (yet!), but you definitely need to evaluate how much time you're spending scrolling on your social media accounts. It may not be making you happy. One study by Facebook of teen Instagram users in the US and UK found more than 40% of those who reported feeling “unattractive” said the feelings started when using Instagram. It's a good time to start thinking about decluttering your digital life through a social media and digital detox!"
I somewhat agree with my results but disagree with the part about feeling "unattractive" after using Instagram. I use Instagram for car content, dirtbikes, snowboarding, and other things I am interested in. I never compare myself to others on social media which is a healthy practice which is why I disagree with my results.
I found this statistic interesting because only 13 percent of adults say they use the platform "Nextdoor." This was surprising to me as I would think more adults would use Nextdoor because it is a platform for homeowners.
I personally think that social media has had very good and bad impacts on society. Social media opens up different opportunities that you may not have had acess to otherwise. It can quickly inform people and be used as a form of mass communication. It can also negatively affect peoples mental health which is a bad impact on society. I think it has a good affect on me but it wouldn't be a bad thing if I spent less time on it.
I learned that I am "not addicted to social media YET," which means that I have to monitor my usage and be mindful of when and how I am using social media.
