Causality in Psychology Lab

Drawing on social psychological theories and leveraging causal inference methods, we aim to obtain actionable causal insights to inform how to foster a more connected, equitable, and healthy society.

Current (externally funded) projects

O-Causal (funded by ERC): Investigating the causal impacts of social exclusion using real-world data and causal inference methods for policy recommendations.   

ZonMw Causal project (funded by ZonMw): Investigating the causal impacts of government policies during the pandemic on public mental health.

Kindness (funded by NWO): Investigating the causal impacts of everyday kindness actions using longitudinal field experiments.

Upscaling (funded by NWO Open Science NL): Investigating causal mechanisms of upscaling behavioral intervention from individuals to communities. 

Ostracism monitor (funded by multiple partners): Tracking the experience of ostracism among a population-based adult sample (~5000) in the Netherlands since 2022.

Algorithmic management (funded by NL starters grant): Investigating the psychological and behavioral impacts of algorithmic management on employees.
