Trained as a social psychologist, I have dual expertise in substantive research and methodology. My substantive work examines mental health and well-being, social connections and solitude, and AI psychology. My methodological research focuses on making causal inference methods accessible, with the goal of enhancing the precision, rigor, and policy relevance of psychological science.
I earned my PhD from Purdue University. Prior to joining Maastricht University, I held faculty positions at Tilburg University and Emory University. I am a recipient of the Rising Star Award from the Association for Psychological Science (APS). I have been awarded nearly 2 million euros in competitive research grants from funders including the Dutch Research Council (NWO), the Netherlands Organisation for Health Research and Development (ZonMw), and the European Research Council (ERC).
