This document is the source of truth for the Blur Rabbit privacy policy. The same text should be published on the public policy page linked from the Chrome Web Store developer dashboard (currently hosted at DreamBuilderApps — Blur Rabbit Privacy Policy).
Blur Rabbit is a Chromium extension that blurs or masks sensitive content on web pages during screen sharing, demos, and recordings. Masking runs locally in your browser. We do not operate a backend that receives your browsing data, page content, or screen.
We do not sell user data. We do not use data for advertising or profiling.
To provide blur and masking, the extension must read parts of the pages you visit. This processing happens only on your device in the active tab (including iframes where the content script can run). Nothing from this processing is sent to DreamBuilderApps or any server we control.
This includes:
Page content (DOM): text nodes, form fields, and elements you pick or that match your saved rules or enabled auto-detection patterns (for example email-like strings, phone numbers, prices).
Page URL and hostname: used to decide which saved rule groups apply (global, domain, page, or URL pattern scope).
Selectors and rules you create: CSS selectors, XPath expressions, text rules, and related metadata (for example the page URL where a rule was created).
If you use Pick element, Scan page, or auto-blur, the extension inspects the live page only to apply or save masks. We do not upload that content.
Blur Rabbit stores data in chrome.storage.local on your device. It stays there until you remove it or uninstall the extension.
Global blur on/off — master toggle for masking.
Rule groups — saved masks, scopes (global / domain / page / URL pattern), enabled flags.
Selector rules — CSS / XPath / text rules, optional source URL and picker metadata.
Auto-blur pattern settings — which PII/price detectors are enabled per scope.
App settings — peek hotkey, blur intensity, mask scope preferences.
UI preferences — for example rate-us prompt counters and “don’t ask again” flags.
Debug flag (optional) — local performance logging when you enable it.
We do not sync this data to our servers. Chrome may include extension local storage in browser profile backups if you use Chrome sync for extensions — that is governed by Google’s policies, not by a DreamBuilderApps server.
Uninstall the extension (removes extension storage), or
In Chrome: Extensions → Blur Rabbit → Details → Clear data (wording may vary by Chrome version).
We do not currently collect or transmit usage analytics, crash reports, or personal information to DreamBuilderApps.
The extension does not include third-party analytics SDKs (for example Google Analytics) in the current release. If we add limited, anonymous analytics in a future version, we will update this policy and the Chrome Web Store data disclosures before or with that release.
On-device processing and storage: solely to provide blur, masking, rule management, and related extension features you control.
Email support: to respond to your questions.
Voluntary feedback: to improve the product.
We do not use your data for targeted advertising, credit decisions, or data brokerage.
We do not sell, rent, or trade user data.
We may disclose information only:
With your direction (for example when you submit a Google Form or send email), or
If required by law, or
To protect security (for example investigating abuse), or
As part of a merger or sale of assets, with notice where required by law.
Because masking data stays on your device, a business transfer would not include your per-site blur rules unless you had separately contacted us.
Data processed for masking remains in your browser. Any future transmission of data to us would use HTTPS (or equivalent secure channels).
Blur Rabbit is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Blur Rabbit’s use of information received through Chrome extension permissions adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements:
We use permissions and any accessed page data only to provide or improve the extension’s stated purpose: local blur and masking for screen sharing and demos.
We do not use page data for personalized ads, retargeting, or sale to data brokers.
We do not allow humans to read your page content except as needed for support if you explicitly send it to us (for example in an email), or as required for security or legal compliance.
We do not transfer page content to third parties except as described in section 4 (your voluntary actions) or where required by law.
We may update this policy when practices change. The Last updated date at the top will change when we do. Material changes will be reflected in the Chrome Web Store listing and public policy page.
