(1) it is more suitable for chronic diseases; and
(2) it takes long time to cure diseases. Both these are untrue.
Actually, with homoeopathy acute diseases (including common cold, cough and fever etc.) can be cured much faster and without causing side effects/ weakness. There are cases of dengue and malaria which have been cured in just 4-5 days. In fact, there are several hundreds of my patients who are entirely on homoeopathy for nearly their entire life since childhood. There are several chronic diseases for which holistic cure is perhaps not available in other fields and that is where Homoeopathy clearly stands out, as it provides near permanent cure as opposed to temporary relief in other fields. There are several instances where surgery has been averted due to Homoeopathic medication. Undoubtedly, for chronic diseases, one cannot expect cure as fast as acute diseases and hence the second misconception, i.e. homoeopathy takes long time to cure diseases. For chronic diseases, since the cure requires deeper root level resolution, body needs certain amount of time to cure with the help of homoeopathic medicine. Therefore, chronic cases could take much longer to cure fully and permanently, while some relief could be experienced in short time.
Another common refrain we hear commonly is that Homeopathy has placebo effect. There are several critics and skeptics of homeopathy who say so. Admittedly, Homoeopathy does not have adequate research as per guidelines of modern medicine and perhaps that is the cause of this criticism. However, one cannot deny the actual results produced by homeopathic medicines even in cases where other medication hasn't worked. These results are demonstrable, recurring and clearly observable/ recorded. Therefore, I believe, that homeopathic medication does not mean placebo effect.
At the same time, it is important to understand that because of the very individualised nature of the treatment, and presence of hundreds of different homeopathic remedies which can be prescribed in a variety of different dilutions (potencies) for several of the symptoms; there are several cases of failures while treating certain diseases. While there could be limitations of the Homoeopathic medicine, based on my years of experience, I would say that because of the complexity of individualised nature of treatment explained above, skill and expertise of the practitioner becomes an extremely crucial and differentiating factor; and that could be the reason for limited success or cases of failures. With such failed experiences, many people have formed certain wrong impression about the Homoeopathic treatment itself.
