The following figures represent the initial assessment of the disaster's impact in the Globe and Miami area of Gila County. These statistics are subject to change as search, rescue, and damage assessment efforts continue.
Fatalities: At least 3 confirmed deaths have been reported in the Globe/Gila County area. Search and rescue operations are ongoing.
Missing Persons: An unspecified number of people were initially unaccounted for, and search operations remain the top priority for officials.
Propane Tank Hazard (Hazmat): Approximately 1,000 residential-sized propane tanks were swept away from a local distributor and scattered throughout Historic Downtown Globe, creating a major hazardous materials risk.
Evacuations/Rescues: At least 20 tourists were evacuated from the Havasupai Indian Reservation due to flood conditions.
Search & Rescue Teams: Over 150 resources (personnel and equipment) from various agencies have been deployed to the area.
Total Rainfall: Approximately 2.5 inches of rain fell in the Globe area within a 24-hour period.
Peak Intensity: The most devastating surge occurred when a rain gauge at the Globe courthouse recorded 2.09 inches of rain in just 25 minutes. This unprecedented intensity is what drove the catastrophic flash flooding.
Historic Downtown Globe: The area is officially declared unsafe and remains closed due to multiple compromised buildings, extensive debris, and the hazmat situation caused by the propane tanks.
Businesses Affected: Multiple businesses in both downtown Globe and Miami (especially on Sullivan Street) suffered extensive structural and material damage, including building collapses and destruction of contents (e.g., art collections, musical instruments).
Vehicles: Numerous vehicles were swept away by floodwaters and are being recovered from creek beds and canyon areas.
Power Outages: More than 1,100 homes in the Miami area temporarily lost power.
Road Closures: Major roadways, including portions of U.S. 60, were shut down due to impassable water and debris.
State Emergency Fund: $200,000 was allocated from the Governor's Emergency Fund after a State of Emergency was declared for Gila County.
Corporate Support: $250,000 was donated by Arizona Public Service (APS) to The Salvation Army to support relief efforts.
Total Damage Estimate: The overall financial cost of the damage to public, commercial, and residential property is currently unknown and is pending full damage assessment reports
