South Carolina Book Award Nominees

Students at DHES are encouraged to read the SC Book Award Nominees to promote school wide reading, but it is not mandatory. Students who meet the criteria for their grade level get to go on the DHES news for recognition, receive a certificate, and chapter book readers receive a medal at the end of the year. Criteria for reading per grade level is at the bottom of this page along with more information.

DHES Book Award Reading: 

2nd grade: 15 picture books (certificate)

3rd grade: all 20 picture books (certificate) and 2 chapter books (medal)

4th grade: 15 picture books (certificate) and 3 chapter books (medal)

5th grade: 15 picture books (certificate) and 4 chapter books (medal)
