Shakespeare left us with many beautiful lyrics to songs, but no sheet music. He was many things, but unfortunately composer was not one of them.
But Theater is a collaborative art, and the lack of sheet music only opens up more opportunity for composers to enter the arena and take a crack at Shakespeare's timeless lyrics.
Our Much Ado is set in the 1980's, and so our composer Michael Bruce took the lyrics of songs from this play (as well as other plays) and created songs that sound like they were written back then.
Here are some of the songs you will hear in our show, only composed and performed by different people.
I expect the audience to interact with this like how people do with buttons that make sounds at a museum. Maybe they don't hit every button one at a time and stand there for the full length of every song, but they get something in their head to compare the songs to later. Also, pushing buttons is just fun. If this were a real board and not a website I would make the buttons bigger to help fill up the white space.
