Joseph Stein was born to two Jewish Polish Immigrants in New York. He lived his life in New York City and got his start on Broadway as a sketch writer for Lend an Ear (1948). His biggest hit was Fiddler on the Roof in 1964. In 2008, he was inducted into the Theatre Hall of Fame.

Jerry Bock was born in Connecticut and raised in New York. He went to school at UW Madison and wrote Big As Life while still in college. His Broadway career began with The Body Beautiful. His biggest hit was Fiddler on the Roof. He entered the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1972.

Sheldon Harnick was born in Chicago and went to Northwestern University. He bagan his career on Broadway by writing the words to a song forNew Faces (1952). He began working with Bock in 1958 on The Body Beautiful. His greatest hit was Fiddler on the Roof and he is still considered on of the most prominent Broadway lyricists to this day.
