Also Goten and Trunks have been skipped. Are they not stronger than Master Roshi and Tien? They both have capabilities to go Super Saiyan and together then can fuse and become stronger? So are they not better suited for a tournament that needs team players?

If you haven't seen the latest episodes of super, it is not individual fights. It is a battle royale where all fighters from all universes will be fighting at once simultaneously. Weaker members of "Team universe 7" such as Master Roshi and Krillin are there because of the tournament rules. The only way to defeat your opponent is to knock them off the platform in the void in which they will battle. Therefore, they invited multiple fighters with a set of skills. i.e, Krillen invented a new technique called the solar flare x100. Which follows the same principal of the original concept of the first solar flare, however, this technique was much more powerful and when in use, Gohan who has the power of at least SSJ3+ could not block this attack and was easily knocked out of the platform in a mock battle.

The point is, you do not need sheer power to KNOCK an opponent off a platform and Master Roshi has a vast knowledge of techniques he could utilise while under the support of many other universe 7 team members such as Goku.

However, I was quite surprised at the roster. When I originally heard about the tournament of power, I genuinely believed that they would use the Dragon Balls to resurrect strong fighters from universe 7 such as Broly, Frieza, Janemba etc or even Pikon. I understand that there is the risk that they will betray the team or cause havoc on universe 7 if they were to survive. But the winning universe can use the Dragon Balls and I believe that they could easily wish away the evil fighters after the tournament of power as Super Dragon balls have multi resurrections per wish as I believe that they will also have wishes that are able to wish away multiple enemies per wish.

I really doubt that he has been into this tournament because he is stronger. We have clearly seen how strong goten and trunks are. They can transform into SSJ 3 as well. And also they gave a tough time to buu, who transformed everyone into chocolate. And clearly it was seen that master roshi didn't stand a chance against them. Its probably because of that void thing. Goku might not want to take risk with his little kid. And same goes for Trunks. Also their might be a possibility that goten and trunks stayed back to protect planet earth in absence of allmighty warriors.

Its probably to make the lineup less sayian heavy and a bit more interesting, which honestly I'm in favour of. They'll use Chichi as the plot device to stop Goten and Trunks entering though (I hate that woman)

Master Roshi is a savage. Why WOULDN'T they include him? He has more knowledge than any of them, and most likely has more techniques that we don't even know about. POWERFUL techniques. Master Roshi taught Goku the Kamehameha, which is probably Goku's most powerful Ki-based attack excluding the Spirit Bomb.

In case anyone missed it, it has been stated that fusion is not allowed and that's all trunks and goten like to do. They are not that strong alone and not being able to fuse will put them at a severe disadvantage. For master roshi he could use evil containment wave and send enemies off the stage if he got the chance for the stronger opponents.

Roshi hasn't done any of the intense, modern training that the Z fighters do, and this VERY SUDDEN boost of his power by hundreds of thousands, if not millions, is completely out of nowhere.

He can't just suddenly be able to fight at 10,000 power level, and then just a while later (tournament arc) exceed that by hundreds of thousands (seeing as he fought Tien pretty well). Toriyama made a mistake.

It doesn't mean it's a bad series, but this is a mistake. Gohan losing so much power is also a mistake, since even after the Cell games, teen Gohan could still go SSJ2 even though he didn't train for 7 years, but here, Gohan suddenly had trouble going Super saiyan when Super began.

The tournament takes maturity and power, something Tien and Roshi has after the latest episodes Roshi is skilled and smart enough to deftest opponents stronger then him with technique rather then power which is what Krillin was brought in as well.

I think master Roshi is in team because he has more experience and techniques like he used against goku in the tournament (in dragon ball) and also in episode 90 or something while they were at tien's dojo while master ROSHI was under the spell Goku said" WOW MASTER ROSHI THIS IS UR STRENGTH U WERE HIDING IT"

I appreciate Dragon Ball for nostalgia reasons but let's set aside biases and completely ignore all the inconsistencies throughout the entire series, as it's quite obvious that the story has devolved considerably with DBS. It's not just the story that has taken a back seat, but also the art and choreography of each fight scene as well. Even character design has taken a considerable drop in quality, for example the child like Saiyans of Universe 6. Compare Cabba to Teen Gohan. Compare Caulifla to early established female Saiyans. Find anything a tad ridiculous yet?

When the team of Universe 7 was announced, I must say that I was excited. And the reason was very simple. Because the tournament of power would give to the old characters from Dragonball the chance to shine again, 20 years later. We had the chance to see characters, who were kind of irrelevant back in DBZ, back in action. The truth was that my real excitement was for Master Roshi and my favorite character in the franchise, Krillin. However, I was also happy to see Tien as he is a character who lives up to the spirit of the original Dragonball. He was a martial artist who came from another school, with many unique techniques which would bring diversity to the Tournament of Power.

After leaving the Orin temple due to being bullied by his seniors, Krillin tracks down the legendary martial arts master and turtle hermit, Roshi, and asks to be trained by him. He discovers another young boy, named Son Goku, is also seeking training. Together, the two are accepted, and spend the next several months training in the turtle style.

Krillin had gotten a lot stronger due to his training, and though he was able to one shot most of the tournament roster, he was ultimately defeated when matched up against Jackie Chun (Roshi) himself.

Krillin further trains under Muten Roshi, this time alongside his newest student, Yamcha. Together, they enter the next tournament, where they are immediately confronted by the top two students of a rival school. Krillin is able to narrowly beat one of the Crane students, Chiaotzu , but once again is eliminated in the semifinals when he is matched against his friend and rival, Goku. He is soon after ambushed and killed by a spawn of the demon king Piccolo, Tambourine.

Krillin travels to and climbs Korin tower in order to train with the legendary master Korin, alongside Tien, Chiaotzu, and Yamcha. They train there together for a time, then go their separate ways to hone their skills. They meet back up with the others at the 23rd World Tournament, where Krillin once again gets to the semifinals, this time facing Piccolo Jr. Though he is initially able to put up a decent fight, he is quickly eliminated once Piccolo Jr. decides to get serious.

Five years after the defeat of Piccolo, Krillin attends a reunion with Bulma and Goku. The reunion is interrupted by the arrival of a strange warrior who calls himself Raditz. After attempting to brush the strange warrior away, Krillin is knocked out by a swipe of the Saiyan's tail. After Goku is killed, Krillin is informed that he has been summoned, along with Tien, Chiaotzu, and Yamcha, to train with Kami in preparation for the arrival of Raditz' comrades in a year's time.

After training with Kami, Krillin's power generously increases to a point that he is able to kill multiple Saibamen. However, he is proven to be no match afterward against the Saiyan general Nappa, even when fighting alongside Piccolo.

Krillin, as well as Gohan perform image training while traveling to Namek, giving them a minor boost in strength. They arrive on planet Namek, where they are immediately confronted by two alien soldiers, who they are able to take down rather quickly. But they soon find out that Vegeta, as well as many other adversaries are also hunting for the dragon balls.

During his time on Namek, Krillin rescues a young Namekian named Dende, who shortly afterward introduces him to the leader of the Namekians, Guru. His actions, along with his memories, reveal his intentions and earns the Namekian elder's trust, and Guru uses his power to awaken Krillin's potential, granting him a significant boost in strength. However, Krillin is still unable to do much against the members of the Ginyu force.

After recovering from the injuries sustained against the Ginyu force, Krillin's power continues to rise due to the effect of Guru having awakened his potential. It eventually makes him strong enough to surpass the Ginyu force members, except for Captain Ginyu himself, though it does little to help him against Freeza. However, through cunning, Krillin is able to help stall the despotic emperor long enough for Goku to recover. But he is eventually killed once again, by Freeza, in retaliation against Goku.

After Goku's return to Earth, Krillin and the others are warned of a coming threat by a pair of killer androids. He spends three years training on his own, significantly boosting his strength, though he ultimately proves no match for the androids. Despite this, he does show up later to compete in the Cell games, though he is beaten by one of the Cell Jrs, and tries to help Gohan to defeat Cell.

Upon hearing of Goku's return to the Earth to compete in the upcoming world tournament, Krillin trains hard in preparation, enabling him to recover and surpass his former strength. He is later killed by Majin Buu, and waits as backup with Yamcha on Otherworld. 152ee80cbc
