Shakira Smalls 

Currently serving as the Executive Director of Langston Hughes Library and Community Cultural Center, Shakira Smalls focuses on revitalizing and engaging with diverse communities. With a Master’s in Library Science and Public Administration, she is an active community advocate, dedicated to bridging socio-economic gaps and advocating for the voiceless.

In her prior role as the Assistant Director of Queens Public Library's Job & Business Academy, Shakira connected residents to job readiness and skills training programs. During her tenure, her expertise in workforce development led to over 1500 New Yorkers being educated, trained, and employed in jobs that meet the needs of current and future businesses and industries.

Shakira is a visionary, activist, community leader, and trailblazer in Queens with over ten years of impactful experience.
