Biography
Dr Yousif Abdelrahim is an interdisciplinary academic researcher and university educator whose work focuses on informal governance mechanisms, Wasta, tribalism, cultural systems, organisational behaviour, corruption, and institutional dynamics within emerging market economies. His research examines how socio-cultural institutional mechanisms influence organisations, leadership, decision-making, innovation, ethics, and sustainable development across different cultural and economic contexts.
Integrating perspectives from organisational behaviour, governance studies, institutional theory, cultural analysis, and management research, Dr Abdelrahim’s scholarship contributes to contemporary discussions surrounding informal institutions and their influence on organisational and societal systems. His work aims to advance a broader understanding of how deeply embedded socio-cultural structures shape governance practices, institutional performance, and organisational behaviour.
Dr Abdelrahim is affiliated with Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University, where he has taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses in organisational behaviour, strategic management, human resource management, business ethics, sustainability, entrepreneurship, international business, research methodology, negotiation and conflict management, and related management disciplines.
His research is particularly recognised for advancing multidisciplinary perspectives on:

His recent theoretical work, Wasta as Informal Governance: A Componential and Institutional Theory for Emerging Market Economies, proposes a multidisciplinary framework for understanding Wasta as an institutional governance mechanism operating within emerging market systems.
Dr. Abdelrahim’s publications have received more than 320 scholarly citations and have appeared in internationally indexed journals, conference proceedings, and academic platforms, including Q1-ranked journals. His scholarly work has attracted growing international academic attention through interdisciplinary research contributions, theoretical frameworks, and studies examining governance and socio-cultural institutional systems.
