Course description: This course will introduce students to examine scientific methods and policy implications using of qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods as they specifically relate to a masters level research project in agricultural economics. This course will cover all stages of research processes including formulating the research question, developing hypotheses, analyzing the data and reporting research outcomes. The goal of this course is to prepare students critically assess economic research and to enhance their independent research ability. While the primary focus of the course will be on academic research, attention will also be paid to the research method and communication used in business, government and non-profit organization.
