ABOUT THE GROUP
We are a computational and experimental group comprised of knowledgeable engineers and chemists working on the cutting edge of material design for energy systems. We employ both ab initio and classical methods to estimate material characteristics, informed by application-specific studies, and develop data-driven models. The model-recommended materials would be validated experimentally to demonstrate their suitability for advanced industrial applications.
Mission - Engineering the next generation of materials
Research Areas - Adsorption, Kinetic Separations, Drug delivery, and Material screening
Experimental Methods- Dynamic column breakthrough and adsorption equilibrium experiments, PSA/VSA/TSA experiments and Synthesis and characterization of the Metal Organic Frameworks
Computational Methods - Molecular Dynamics, Monte Carlo, Quantum Mechanics Packages, AI/ML, and CFD
Computer Skills - Aspen, Python, MATLAB, Linux systems, COMSOL, VASP/Gaussian, and RASPA/GULP
PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR (PI)
Dr. Sridhar Palla is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy (IIPE), Visakhapatnam. He holds an M.S. and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from IIT Madras, specializing in multiscale modeling of adsorption-based hydrogen storage in metal–organic frameworks. He has postdoctoral experience from the University of Liverpool, UK, in data-driven modelling and high-throughput screening of MOFs for ethane and ethylene gas separation.
Dr. Palla’s research spans hydrogen storage, carbon dioxide capture, hydrocarbon separation, and biomass pyrolysis, integrating computational methods such as machine learning, DFT, molecular simulations, and CFD with experimental studies.
