Frequently Asked Questions:
What grades/subjects do you offer?
We offer 1 to 1 tutoring and small group classes for TK-12th grade. Subjects include reading, writing, math, science, history, test prep, crochet, and cross stitch/embroidery. Classes can be online, at our Yucaipa classroom, or at our Redlands classroom.
How do I sign up my student?
Step 1: Complete the registration form linked here.
Step 2: A staff member will reach out to you via phone or email to schedule your first class.
How do you assess a student's needs?
At your first session, your assigned teacher will give a brief assessment to understand your student's strengths, challenges, and learning goals. The teacher will then make a personalized learning plan for your student.
What if we are not happy with our tutor?
We will match you with the right tutor based on many factors. However, if at any time you feel that it's not a good match, we are happy to schedule you with another tutor.
What is your teaching philosophy?
We believe students learn best when they feel confident, capable, and curious. Our goal is to help students fall in love with learning by making learning meaningful. We prioritize understanding over memorization, strategy over shortcuts, and encouragement over stress. When students believe they can learn, everything changes.
Are there any additional fees on top of tuition?
There are no fees outside of tuition for your class. We do not have any registration fees or curriculum fees. DSLC provides all supplies/curriculum needed for every class, so you simply need to drop your child off and leave the rest to us.
How do you keep parents informed?
For 1 to 1 tutoring, the teacher will provide updated notes via emailing regarding what topics were covered during each session. For group classes, parents will receive a schedule of topics for the semester on the first day of class.
Is DSLC a drop-off program or do parents need to stay?
Parents are welcome to stay on-site during class or you can drop your student off. Both options are fine.
