Operator Algebras

My primary research interest is operator algebras and their applications in both the selfadjoint and non-selfadjoint

settings. Specifically, my focus is semigroup actions on such algebras that are encoded using a semicrossed product

structure. Such operator algebras can then be examined in terms of reflexivity and hyperreflexivity.

I am interested in the use of new technologies and techniques in order to enhance students’ learning within the

traditional paradigm of lectures and seminars. I am responsible for developing online tools for several courses at

Edinburgh University. Specifically, I am currently researching to what extent we can assess mathematical proof

using online assessment tools and to what level such tools are useful for higher level students.
