Give me some Sunshine!

Give me some Sunshine!

Very recently, I started my novice experimentation with indoor plants and home gardening. My recent visit to Gangtok stimulated it further. Here are some random 'think-aloud' cum 'reflection' cum '#NoteToSelf' blogs from my gardening experiences. So true that Nature is the Best teacher!

The travel from Darjeeling to Mirik lake was unfolding scenic beauty and was an absolutely mesmerizing experience. While the tall trees in the hilly area filled up my mind with its vastness, I could not miss the lovely, bright and vibrant marigold flowers across the roads. I plucked some of them and carried them back to Mumbai. I planned to dry them and sow them in a soil pot with the hope that at least some of the seeds would be able to grow into plants. I wasn't disappointed!

Within a week, I could see small leaves shooting out of the soil and eventually trying to pop up from the pot. I was so thrilled. Being a first-grader in the gardening school, I decided to play safe and not to expose these little plants to direct sun. I kept them in a room, a bit away from direct sunlight. Observing the progress of these babies of mine just became my daily ritual.

Days passed, and I realized that my plants started aligning themselves in the direction of sunlight. A naughty child within me changed their position, turning their direction away from sunlight. I was stunned by the dynamic feedback mechanism of these tiny plants. Within the next three-four hours, these small plants again reoriented themselves in the direction of sunlight. This exercise went on for several times. I kept on changing the direction of plants, and they kept on reorienting themselves in the direction of the sun. Finally, I gave up and decided not to bother my plants anymore and submitted myself to the indomitable spirit of these plants that Nature has bestowed on them. I could hear as if each plant was telling me,

Give me some Sunshine; if you don't, I know how to get it!

Life in this Universe astonishes us with its DNA programmed in search of positivity, always looking for light. We, humans, being the mightiest species how easily give up on this basic rule of Nature? Why do we surrender to situations of life and stop our efforts of pulling ourselves out of unfavorable circumstances?

#NoteToSelf - look for Sunshine; even if no one gives you Sunshine, find on your own and follow your Sunshine!

The story doesn't end here!

There were many types of plants popping out from different pots. Every single plant was set out on its journey in search of Sunshine. Not even a sole exception!

How awesome feeling it would be when every single soul around us embarks its journey in search of Sunshine, positivity and synergy; irrespective of race, creed, age, gender, caste, nationality!

Imagine a world; not a single soul thinks of not reaching out to the Sunshine, and not a single soul buries itself in the darkness of negativity, hatred. All are following their Sunshine. Isn't this world will be a happy place just like I used to watch with my tiny tot in the cartoon show of Oswald?

#NoteToSelf - Look for those happy souls around you set out for Sunshine and be one of them.
