Research
My research focuses on understanding how anthropogenic changes affect bat distribution and population dynamics and provides knowledge and tools for bat conservation. In Omaha NE, I am piloting several projects both locally and regionally.

This is my graduate student Evan Wigley's project. Our objective is to examine whether restored grasslands are different from agricultural lands in terms of insect availability, bat diversity, and foraging preferences.
This project aims to generate and disseminate information on how urban backyards serve as a critical habitat for multiple bat species with greatest conservation need (SGCN) via community science. Volunteer community scientists participating in this project will monitor bats in their own backyards and generate data for quantitative demonstrations on how backyard management differences would affect bat activity and habitat suitability.
