Jessica Arnup is a Research Fellow at POLIS: the Centre for Social Policy Research. She is currently working on the GENERATION survey, a longitudinal survey of adolescents' educational pathways in Australia. She is also researching the economic impact of natural disasters on children and families.
Prior to joining ANU, Jessica completed her PhD at Monash University within the Centre for Health Economics. Her PhD examined the determinants and consequences of human capital development, with a focus on children’s time-use, educational aspirations, and childhood mental health conditions.
Jessica is interested in applied microeconomics, health economics, and education economics. She has expertise in analysing longitudinal data sets including LSAC, PLIDA, HILDA, GENERATION, and PISA. Her areas of interest include child and families, educational aspirations and pathways, mental health, learning difficulties and gender differences. She has published in top economics, psychology and educational journals. Jessica also has practical experience in education settings, having worked in schools as both a teacher and a school psychologist.
