Dr. Harish is a NET-qualified scholar with a Ph.D. and Dr. DS Kothari Post-Doctoral experience, currently working as a faculty member in the Department of Botany at Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur, India. He has guided five Ph.D. students and completed three major research projects sponsored by UGC, DST, and CEFIPRA (Indo-French joint grant). With over 100 publications (impact factor ~300, 4,000+ citations), he also holds two Indian and three German patents. He was also awarded an INSA Visiting Scientist Fellowship. He serves as editor for five international journals and books, is an active member of several academic bodies, and has visited France and Switzerland for academic purposes.
Dr. Harish works at the interface of molecular biology, algal biotechnology, and nanoscience to tackle sustainability and environmental health challenges. He has demonstrated algae’s potential in heavy-metal remediation through the discovery of a nickel-hyperaccumulating alga, advanced conservation genomics of the endangered Commiphora wightii, and explored nanoparticle ecotoxicology with implications for environmental safety. His work expands into phyco-nanotechnology, algal lipid production for biofuels, and metabolic engineering of high-value pigments, including astaxanthin and fucoxanthin. By linking fundamental mechanisms, including heterocyst differentiation in Nostoc sp., with translational applications, he has developed a research vision that integrates ecology, molecular science, and innovation.
PhD Experience: He did doctoral research on the heavy metal accumulation capacity of algae in 2008. During this period, he successfully isolated a nickel hyperaccumulator alga, which was published in the internationally reputable journal Bioresource Technology (Elsevier).

Dr. D.S. Kothari Post-Doctoral Experience: During Post Doc Project, he worked on understanding population genetic diversity of one of the critically endangered medicinal plants Commiphora wightii, and was able to formulate a revised conservation strategy for this plant, same was published in the journal Gene (Elsevier). During this period, he also worked on many other plants for improving their tissue culture, and the analysis of genetic homogeneity of tissue culture raised plantlets.
